Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient practice combining acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, and diet therapy.

After a TCM diagnosis has been made, the practitioner will use small needles to manipulate acupuncture points in an attempt to guide the body back to homeostasis and regain smooth flow and circulation throughout the body. Kinesiology is the study of human movement. Our Kinesiologists work with you to develop personalized exercise programs designed to improve your strength, range of motion, and function. In Canada, Kinesiologists or Physiotherapist Assistants (PTAs) work with Physiotherapists to provide care for clients under the direct one-on-one supervision of the Physiotherapist. PTAs can be involved in aspects of care such as supervised exercise, assisted mobilizations and stretches, and applying recovery modalities. This can help optimize recovery from injury, improve performance, and facilitate long-term, sustainable movement.

Allison Godley

Physiotherapist

I am a Nova Scotian turned BCite. I moved out for the mountains and outdoor sports. I am an outdoor enthusiast and I enjoy mountain biking (downhill and cross country), skate skiing, snowboarding, and trail running. I love the Okanagan because each season brings a new sport.

My specialty is manual therapy and using the Integrated Systems Model to figure out the root of a problem. I use that to ease discomfort and improve sports performance.

My goal is to ensure that my clientele can enjoy all that the Okanagan has to offer, whether walking the Rail Trail with grandkids or keeping up to their friends on a trail at Silverstar.

Arlana Taylor

Physiotherapist

I am a Vancouverite turned Vernonite after moving to the Okanagan with my husband in 2007.  Even though I was active in trail running and skiing while living in Vancouver, I became even more passionate for these outdoor pursuits since moving to Vernon.

I love being able to go out with my dogs and be in the mountains or forest within minutes to hike, trail run, or mountain bike.  In the winter months my favourite activities are cross-country and downhill skiing. Most of my downhill skiing is with my husband who bombs around on a sit ski.

I have been practicing physiotherapy for some time now so I have a variety of treatment options to offer my clients.  I often use a combination of manual therapy, dry needling (IMS and Acupuncture), and targeted exercise prescription (along with other soft tissue and manual techniques).  I have a special interest in treating tendonopathies as well as doing vestibular rehab.

I believe that longevity in sport/activity (and life in general) can be achieved by identifying compensatory movement strategies and strength deficits early so that pain doesn’t become the barrier to participating and enjoying life.

My goal is to help my clients stay in “their game”, whatever that game may be.

Courtney De Vries

Physiotherapist

I am an Okanagan local, raised in Kelowna and now calling Vernon home. I completed my Bachelor of Kinesiology at UBC in 2013 then went on to complete a Master’s in Physical Therapy at UBC in 2016. I have taken advanced functional dry needling and acupuncture training, as well as further certifications in vestibular rehab (vertigo/dizziness) and manual therapy. I practice with The Integrated Systems Model which is an approach that provides an understanding of how all past injuries, posture and movement habits are linked and have contributed to an injury or condition.

I am committed to providing the best care and support to my patients, allowing you to return quickly to the lifestyle and activities that you enjoy most.   I am passionate about inspiring, educating and empowering my clients to learn about their injury and give you tools to continue your healing journey at home. When not at the clinic you can find me running the trails in Kal park and hiking with my dog, Bear.

Mara Boaru

Physiotherapist

My physiotherapy practice is deeply rooted in my personal discoveries as a nature lover, totally fascinated by the human body and continuously curious about the way it can change and adapt. I have also gained various perspectives through continuous learning on a variety of topics such as Manual Therapy, Dry Needling, management of TMJ conditions and pain science. I now combine all of these skills through the use of the Integrated Systems Model which allows me to assess each individual from a whole-body perspective and deliver a highly personalised treatment plan that takes into consideration the uniqueness of our bodies, our past experiences and our goals.
Outside of a relentless desire to help others, I value the human connection that my role brings and I hope to inspire others to lead a life that is not only fulfilling but one that fosters resiliency, adaptation and growth.

Kelly Medeiros

Chiropractor

I am excited to join the team at Habitat health to work alongside and collaborate with a well-rounded group of holistic practitioners. I relocated to Coldstream with my family in 2020 in search of a more balanced lifestyle surrounded by nature. So far, we have not
been disappointed!

After a decade of practice, being a chiropractor continues to bring so much joy to my life. I love being part of my patient’s health journey and am always looking for new ways to inspire and motivate even the most challenging cases.

I enjoy working with people of all ages and I have a special interest and extra training in pre/postnatal, pediatric and family wellness care. I have worked closely with the La Leche league, midwives and lactation consultants over the past several years. I am an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and Webster Technique Certified.

My treatment style utilizes several different techniques and is dependant on patient preference and what I believe will help you attain your goals. I generally use a combination of gentle traditional chiropractic adjustments and drop table adjustments topped off with some soft tissue work or cranial work. I am trained in Active Release Technique and Graston technique. Fun fact – I am certified in animal chiropractic and have spent several years adjusting horses and dogs. Humans aren’t the only ones that benefit from chiropractic care!
